Ha Giang proposes constructing an expressway connecting to Thanh Thuy Border Gate. |
The project spans 58.5 kilometres, passing through Bac Quang and Vi Xuyen Districts and Ha Giang City. The starting point is Tan Quang Commune, Bac Quang District, with the end point at Thanh Thuy International Border Gate.
Featuring four lanes across a width of 25.25 metres, the expressway is designed for speeds of up to 100 km/h and 80 km/h for sections in difficult terrain.
The project has a total investment of 14.852 trillion, funded by public investment.
Ha Giang expects to conduct investment preparation, site clearance and resettlement from 2025-2026. Construction is expected to commence in 2026, with completion scheduled for 2028.
Upon completion, the project will strengthen connections with the Tuyen Quang-Phu Tho and Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressways, creating an economic corridor between Ha Giang and the Red River Delta region, the capital Hanoi and northern seaports.
The project is also anticipated to enhance cooperation between Vietnam and China, especially as China has already invested in an expressway to the Thanh Thuy Border Gate.
Currently, goods transport to Thanh Thuy Border Gate is only possible via National Highway 2, so investing in the second phase of the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway is urgent.
