The cooperative relationship between Ha Giang and Yunshan has been maintained through information exchange, conferences, fairs and important trade promotion events such as: celebrating the 30th anniversary of opening Thanh Thuy - Tian Bao Border Gate; the China - Vietnam International Tourism Trade Fair (Malipo); the Kunming International Trade Fair; and the Mekong Delta - Lancang Economic Zone Governors Conference.

At the conference, delegates discussed the remaining problems in import-export activities such as: the value of import-export goods increasing unsteadily, with the potential of border gates not being fully exploited; import-export activities mainly taking place at the Thanh Thuy - Tian Bao International Border Gate pair, while the Xin Man - Du Long and Sam Pun - Tian Peng bilateral border gates are still quiet; and means of transport only carrying out cargo transfer at warehouses, not optimising costs. Enterprises proposed reforming administrative procedures, reducing customs clearance time, providing market information, and commodity standards for appropriate adjustments.

Xue Tinghai, Deputy Director of the Department of Trade Affairs of Wenshan City, speaks at the conference.

He suggested that the functional agencies of the two countries continue to strengthen mutual trust and proactively exchange and implement the common understanding signed by senior leaders. At the same time, the two sides need to effectively implement bilateral and multilateral trade agreements; promote infrastructure investment cooperation and resume border crossings and markets; and support businesses in finding partners and expanding markets. He also shared his hope that the Vietnamese Consulate General in Kunming would continue to act as a bridge to support businesses in promoting products, sharing market information, and connecting Yunnan businesses with Ha Giang.
