Senior Party official receives China’s Guangxi Party Secretary

BHG - Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member and Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, held a cordial meeting on February 20 with Chen Gang, Party Secretary of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The meeting was attended by the Party Secretaries of Vietnam’s four provinces of Quang Ninh, Ha Giang, Lang Son, and Cao Bang as part of the spring meeting programme between leaders of four Vietnamese border provinces and Guangxi.

During the reception, Thang congratulated Chen on his recent appointment as Party Secretary of Guangxi while highlighting the significance of the 2025 spring meeting programme between provincial leaders of Vietnam and China.

Regarding future cooperation, Thang suggested that the Guangxi leader continue to adhere to the high-level common perceptions between the two countries’ Party and State leaders and further implement mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in economics, trade, infrastructure, and science and technology.

He particularly emphasised the pilot development of a smart border gate model to facilitate customs clearance of goods and continued cooperation in effectively managing the land border between the two countries.

At the reception, Guangxi Party Secretary Chen Gang expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome extended by Thang and the leaders of Vietnam’s four border provinces to the Guangxi delegation.

Chen affirmed that in his position as Party Secretary of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, he would continue to comprehensively and effectively implement the common perceptions reached by the two countries’ top leaders regarding further deepening the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

He also emphasised that he would continue to expand mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields, especially in economics, trade, investment, education and training, and science and technology. This includes developing artificial intelligence (AI), accelerating the pilot construction of smart border gates, and promoting road and railway transport connections to facilitate trade and travel between China and Vietnam as well as other ASEAN countries.
