New Year meeting for Secretaries of Party committees of five Vietnam’s localities and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region

BHG - A New Year meeting for secretaries of the Party committees of Vietnam’s Quang Ninh, Lang Son, Cao Bang and Ha Giang provinces and Hai Phong City and China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was held in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province on February 21.

The event was attended by Politburo member and President of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics Nguyen Xuan Thang.

Representatives from Ha Giang Province included Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Hau A Lenh; and members of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board.

Speaking at the event, Politburo member Nguyen Xuan Thang highly appreciated the implementation of the New Year meeting and the 16th conference of the joint working committee between the four border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi (China).

He emphasised that this is an opportunity to promote cooperation in various fields, contributing to strengthening Vietnam - China relations. He asked the leaders of the two sides closely observe the high-level common perception, foster economic - trade, science and technology cooperation to create more breakthroughs.

According to the report delivered by Quang Ninh Provincial Party Secretary Vu Dai Thang, Vietnam - China relations continued to develop positively in 2024.

The year 2025 has special significance as it marks the 75th anniversary of the Vietnam-China diplomatic relations, the Year of Vietnam - China Humanistic Exchange and the 10th anniversary of New Year Meeting.

Participants at the event agreed to promote substantive cooperation in many fields, strengthen political trust and comprehensive strategic cooperation, and realise the common perceptions of the two countries' senior leaders.

Ha Giang Provincial Party Secretary Hau A Lenh agreed with the cooperation proposals, emphasising that the outcomes have deepened the comprehensive strategic partnership, bringing practical common benefits.

Ha Giang commits to coordinate in strictly implementing legal documents on the border, promptly handling arising cases, combating illegal entry and exit and all kinds of cross-border crimes.

Regarding bilateral cooperation with Guangxi, Ha Giang proposed to promote the opening of the Lung Lan - Long Binh border market, boost cooperate in education and training, organise exchanges between Party committees, and effectively implement the agreement on cooperation in training cadres between the Provincial Party Committees of four Vietnamese border provinces and the Guangxi Regional Party Committee.

Regarding labour management, Ha Giang and Baise (Guangxi) had signed a Cooperation Agreement in 2017 but it has not been implemented yet. Therefore, Ha Giang Province proposed to promote implementation of the document to meet the needs of labour in border areas.

Regarding agricultural cooperation, the two sides have carried out testing of a number of plant varieties in Ha Giang and gained good results. Ha Giang proposed to direct businesses of both sides to cooperate in testing, mass production, and product consumption.

At the event, the delegates agreed to include Hai Phong city as a new participant of the New Year Meeting and the joint working committee between the border provinces of Vietnam and Guangxi Autonomous Region (China).

On the occasion, the localities signed the minutes of the meeting on building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.
