Ha Giang Party Secretary Hau A Lenh meets with China’s Guangxi Party Secretary

BHG - Ha Giang Party Secretary Hau A Lenh met with Chen Gang, Party Secretary of China’s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, on February 20 in Quang Ninh Province, as part of the spring meeting programme between leaders of four Vietnamese border provinces and Guangxi.

During the meeting, both leaders expressed delight at the fine development of Vietnam and China's traditional friendship, particularly between Ha Giang, Quang Ninh, Cao Bang, Lang Son and Guangxi.

Lenh congratulated Chen on his recent appointment as Party Secretary of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

He emphasised that the spring meeting programme is the highest cooperation mechanism between local authorities of Vietnam and China, established and maintained since 2016.

To further develop relations between Ha Giang and Guangxi, Lenh expressed hope that in the coming period, both sides would focus on coordinating several initiatives in the spirit of the Vietnam - China Joint Statement as the two countries are celebrating 75 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.

Focus will be placed on expediting the official opening of the Lung Lan (Ha Giang) - Nongping (Guangxi) border crossing and market at border marker 504 between Vietnam and China.

To deepen cooperative relations and exchanges in the future, Lenh invited Chen and other Guangxi leaders to visit Ha Giang at the earliest opportunity. Chen gladly accepted the invitation.

For his part, the Guangxi leader expressed strong agreement with the Ha Giang leader's proposals and promised to direct relevant authorities to work closely with Ha Giang provincial departments to implement the agreements signed between both sides in the coming period, particularly in the field of scientific and technological development, such as artificial intelligence and semiconductors.

Chen invited Lenh to visit Guangxi soon. Lenh gladly accepted the invitation.

Subsequently, the Guangxi Party Secretary and the Party Secretaries of Quang Ninh, Ha Giang, Cao Bang and Lang Son planted a commemorative tree, named “Friendship Tree”, in Lan Be Park, Ha Long City.
