The new era - the era of the nation’s rise
BHG - Recently, in his speeches, articles, and statements, Party General Secretary To Lam has often mentioned “the new era” and “the era of nation’s rise”. The Party leader stated that after nearly 40 years of the DoiMoi (Renewal) process, Vietnam has entered a new period of development, with new vision, new strategies, new implementation methods, and newly assigned tasks that are always associated with comprehensive and synchronous renovation. The theory of the DoiMoi period is not to deny the old, but to supplement on the basis of inheriting, developing, and perfecting the results and achievements that have been gained thus far, paving the way for a new period of development. The new vision requires further exploration, perception, and more breakthroughs, while the implementation of strategic tasks must be stronger and more determined to achieve goals faster and earlier.

The new era, the era of nation’s rise, is based on scientific foundation, always adhering to principles. That is, to always steadfastly and creatively apply and develop Marxism-Leninism and President Ho Chi Minh’s ideology; being consistent to the goal of national independence and socialism, the Party's guidelines on renewal, the principles of Party building to facilitate the national construction and defence; and ensuring the national interests.
Our preparations to enter the new era — the era of nation's rise, as General Secretary To Lam affirmed — include the spirit of patriotism, self-confidence, self-reliance, national pride, the strength of great national unity; the aspiration to develop a prosperous and happy country, promote socialist democracy; and the combined strength of the entire political system and of Vietnamese culture and people. We aim to liberate all productive forces, maximise internal resources, take advantage of external resources, and take internal resources and human resources as the foundation with science - technology and innovation as the driving force for rapid and sustainable development, as a breakthrough to bring the country into a new era, the era of the Vietnam's rise.
The concept of a new era, the era of the Vietnam’s rise, demonstrates awareness, theoretical thinking, new viewpoints, directions, and strategic vision of the Party and State’s leaders. The general goal of the new era is: By 2030 — the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam — Vietnam will be a developing country with modern industry and a high average income. It is requested to raise the aspiration to develop the country; promote the creativity, will and strength of the entire nation; build a prosperous, democratic, fair, civilised, orderly, disciplined and safe society; and ensure a peaceful and happy life for the people. It is also necessary to continuously improve people's lives; firmly protect the Fatherland as a peaceful and stable environment for national development; and enhance Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena. Vietnam strives to become a developed, high-income country by 2045 — the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, now the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
