Vietnam’s northern mountainous provinces enhance cooperation with China’s Yunnan Province
BHG - The northwestern border provinces of Vietnam, namely Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien, and China’s Yunnan Province convened the fourth annual conference between Secretaries of their Provincial Party Committees in Kunming City of Yunnan Province on June 12.
The event was co-chaired by member of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee Wang Ning and the Acting Secretary of the Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung.

Stressing the results of cooperation over the recent years, Acting Secretary of Ha Giang Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Manh Dung, expressed his pleasure to see that the common perceptions, which were reached at the third Annual Conferencein 2023, have been carried out by four provinces of Vietnam and Yunnan Province of China, with important results in all areas, including the cooperation in border management and traffic connection; development of border gates and openings; cross-borderlabour management; culture, sports and tourism; and agricultural cooperation towards removing difficulties in import and export activities, especially for agricultural products of Vietnam.
The two sides discussed and proposed contents of exchanges and cooperation that need to be promoted in the coming time and reached a high consensus. Accordingly, in 2024 and the following years, the provinces will continue to thoroughly implement the common perceptions reached by the leaders of the two Parties and the two States of Vietnam and China, especially the “joint statement on continuing deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries, and building a Vietnam-China community with a shared future that carries strategic significance”. The provinces will also strengthenfriendly exchange activities;economic, trade and investment cooperation;cross-border e-commerce cooperation; development of border gates and traffic connection; border and cross-borderlabour management; exchanges and cooperation in culture, sports and tourism;exchanges and cooperation in cadre training, agriculture, forestry, science and technology, health, environmental protection, justice, and finance.
The two sides agreed to sign the “Minutes of the Fourth Annual Conference between the Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committees of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Lai Chau and Dien Bien from Vietnam and the Secretary of the Yunnan Provincial Party Committee of China”. The conference also witnessed the signing ofcooperation documents in several fieldsby the authorities, agencies, units and localities of the two sides.
In addition to the joint agreementssigned between the four border provinces of Vietnam, Ha Giang Province also signed a cooperation agreement on personnel exchange between the Commissions for Organisation from the Provincial Party Committeeand Wenshan City Party Committee (Yunnan Province). In addition, an agreement onestablishing friendship between Vi Xuyen District of Ha Giang Province and Malipo County of Yunnan Province was signed on the occasion.
