Ha Giang Provincial Vice Chairwoman works with Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance

BHG - On April 16, Ha Thi Minh Hanh, Vice Chairwoman of the Ha Giang Provincial People’s Committee, held a working session with a delegation of the Danida Sustainable Infrastructure Finance (DSIF) on Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Project in Ha Giang City, led by the Project’s Investment Director Bente Schiller.

Speaking at the event, the provincial leader welcomed Director Bente Schiller’s visit to Ha Giang and expressed her appreciation for the delegation’s attention to the ongoing project in Ha Giang.

She stressed that during the implementation of the Project, Ha GiangProvince has received the attention of the governments of Vietnam and Denmark, and especially DSIF and Director Bente Schiller.

She expressed her hope that Director Bente Schiller and DSIF will further support the province and send experts to provide technical guidance in operating the project's wastewater treatment system.

She pledged that Ha GiangProvince will promote investment in projects proposed by donors using local budget and adopt procedures to issue operating prices for wastewater treatment systems as soon as possible.

For her part, Director Bente Schiller asked Ha Giang Province to proactively prepare human resources and allocate budget for project operations if DSIF approves to support the province with experts to implement the wastewater treatment system.

She also expressed her hope that Ha Giang Province will maintain regular exchanges of information with DSIF about the upcoming phases of the project.

The Drainage and Wastewater Treatment Project in Ha Giang City is a ODA-loan project with investmentfrom the Danish Government and a share of the capital sourced from Vietnam. The project’s total investment after adjustment is nearly 230 billion VND.Of which, ODA capital is estimated at over 195 billion VND, and the remaining 34 billion VND is funded by Vietnam. The project includes the construction of wastewater collection pipes with a design length of over 8.6 km, three water booster pump stations, and a wastewater treatment plant with advanced biological treatment technology with microbial media with a capacity of 3,000m3/day and night.

To date, the project has completed 100% of construction, equipment installation, operation training, and test runs in accordance with approved documents. However, the wastewater treatment plant has not yet put into operation due to some procedural difficulties in promulgating unit costs in management, operation, and investment in other additional items.
