BHG - Quan Ba District is promoting the development of temperate fruit trees to transform its crop structure, improve output and increase residents’ income.

Peach and plum orchards in Can Ty Commune are now in the harvest season. Mua Mi Vu's family planted 260 peach trees in 2021, which are now beginning to bear fruit. Last year, he harvested 2 tonnes of peaches, selling them at 30,000 VND per kilogram, earning a 60 million VND income. Seeing its effectiveness, he planted 100 trees and meticulously cared for them to ensure productivity.

Can Ty Commune Vice Chairman Sung Mi De said that the local government have identified temperate fruit trees as the main crop, incorporating them into the annual socio-economic development programme and encouraging residents to expand cultivation areas.

Currently, the commune has 15 hectares of fruit trees, helping many households achieve sustainable poverty alleviation.

Implementing the resolution of the provincial Party Committee, Quan Ba District has launched a project to develop temperate fruit trees from 2021 to 2025, forming concentrated commodity production areas.

To date, the entire district has 72.2 hectares of temperate fruit trees with 36,095 trees, including 14,563 pear trees, 4,635 peach trees and 16,897 plum trees, mainly in communes such as Tam Son, Quyet Tien, Can Ty, Cao Ma Po, Tung Vai, Quan Ba and Nghia Thuan. Some areas have begun to produce fruits, helping to improve residents' incomes.

Quan Ba District Vice Chairman Pham Ngoc Pha said that developing fruit trees has opened up many prospects for the agricultural economy. However, to achieve high efficiency, besides support from authorities and a stable market, residents need to take the initiative in improving soil quality and selecting good varieties to increase productivity.

The district focuses on providing technical support, connecting product consumption, encouraging development towards commercialisation and applying scientific techniques to cultivation.

Thanks to the correct guidance from authorities and the efforts of local people, the area of temperate fruit trees in Quan Ba is continuously expanding. The lush pear, peach and plum orchards full of fruits not only bring stable income but also create a sustainable direction for agriculture, gradually transforming Quan Ba into a high-quality agricultural production region.
