BHG - Within the framework of the National Target Programme for Sustainable Poverty Reduction, Dong Van District has implemented many projects to support production development and create sustainable livelihoods for people.

Specifically, the district has focused on building models to help people escape poverty, with capital of 186.9 trillion VND allocated for 2024.

One of the outstanding projects is the pilot planting of Summer Royal Black grapes in five communes and towns, with an area of 4,000 m² and 1,600 trees. The project has received support from the state worth 850 million VND, including seeds, fertilisers, pesticides, and drip irrigation systems.

Seven households participating in the pilot, including the family of Vu Mi Cha in Sung La Commune, planted 900 m² of Summer Royal Black grapes. After one year, the trees grew well and bore fruit, with a fruit set rate of over 95%. Cha shared that previously his family only grew corn and vegetables, but after receiving support, he mastered the techniques of grape care and saw positive signs of productivity.

The district's Agricultural Extension Station has sent staff to directly guide grape planting and care techniques, regularly check the growth situation and promptly handle pests and diseases. Although there has not been a large harvest in the first year, the project promises to bring stable income in the future.

The district also plans to replicate this model in communes with suitable climate and soil conditions.

In addition to the grape growing project, Dong Van District has also implemented many other economic development models such as fattening cattle, raising pigs for breeding, and growing ginger. These projects have contributed to poverty reduction and improving people's lives.

Thanks to effective support from the National Target Programme, along with the close guidance from the government and relevant agencies, the production models are generating stable income, helping people to sustainably escape poverty.

These production development projects not only help improve people's lives but also create the premise for Dong Van District to continue to increase income for poor households in the coming years, contributing positively to poverty reduction in the locality.
