14:40, 24/09/2024

BHG - In 2023, Yen Minh District implemented linkage projects in the livestock sector thanks to funding from three National Target Programmes.

These projects have initially brought positive results, promoting commodity production and developing typical products with high economic value.

One of the notable projects is the linkage project for cattle breeding, implemented between Cat Ly Cooperative and 77 households in the three communes of Sung Thai, Huu Vinh and Mau Due, with a total of 149 supported cows.

The State has supported part of the cost of buying breeding cows, while the cooperative and households contributed the rest. The cooperatives will be responsible for selecting breeds and purchasing cattle when they are eligible for sale. The project's total cost is nearly 4.7 billion VND, of which the budget supports over 3.3 billion VND.

In Khun Sang Village, Mau Due Commune, 12 households participating in the project have been supported with 24 breeding cows. Currently, 50% of the cows have given birth to their first litter.

Po A Thinh, one of the participating households, said that his family is pleased with this support and hopes to escape poverty thanks to income from livestock farming.

In addition to cattle farming, Yen Minh District also implemented a honey bee farming project associated with product consumption. Phu Thai Wild Honey Cooperative is the host unit, providing 1,600 bee colonies to 35 households in five communes. The project's total cost is 2.9 billion VND, with support from the state budget of about 2.3 billion VND.

According to statistics, 100% of the cows in the project are growing well, giving birth to 40 more calves, bringing the total herd to 189. The bee colony has also developed 180 more colonies, reaching 1,780 colonies with 1,500 litres of honey collected, of which Phu Thai Cooperative has purchased 850 litres.

The district's policy is to effectively promote capital from National Target Programmes, raising people's awareness of production linkages.

Up to now, the projects have shown positive signs, and the district plans to continue implementing three more projects in 2024. These projects include beekeeping according to the value chain and breeding cows, with a total budget of over 11.9 billion VND.

Hopefully, these projects will continue to help people improve their lives and sustainably escape poverty.
