Bac Quang enjoys becoming a type I district-level administrative unit

BHG - With a total score of 82.16 points, Bac Quang has become a type I district-level administrative unit, according to the administrative unit classification standards of the National Assembly Standing Committee and has been recognised by the Ministry of Home Affairs. This is vivid evidence that Bac Quang District is making breakthroughs worthy of being the driving force for the province'ssocio-economic development.

Bac Quang Ddistrict headquarters has been invested in a spacious manner, contributing to improving work efficiency and serving the people.

Bac Quang is the southern gateway district of the province, with a population of over 130,000 people, including 19 ethnic groups living in 23 commune and town administrative units. The district has more than 50km of National Highway No.2, running through it. This is an important and unique artery from Hanoi and other provinces to Ha Giang City to Thanh Thuy International Border Gate or Dong Van Karst Plateau Global Geopark. With its position asthe gateway district of the province, Bac Quang is the economic and cultural exchange hub with provinces in the region such as Tuyen Quang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai and provinces in the Red River Delta.At the same time, it is an important logistics base in the border defence area of ​​the province.

The whole district has more than 270 effective economic development models. Specifically, in the field of cultivation and forestry, there are 157 models with income from 100 million VND/year or more; of which, 3 models have an income value of over 1 billion VND/year, includingthe organic orange growing of VietGap Orange Cooperative, Thanh Nien Cooperative of Vinh Phuc Commune andVietGap Orange Growing Cooperative Group of Khuoi Le Village. In livestock and poultry farming alone, there are 91 models with an income value of 150 million VND/year or more, 5 of which have a value of over 500 million VND/year. In addition, Bac Quang District also has 24 aquaculture models with values ​​ranging from tens of millions to over 100 million VND/year.

To date, the district has 15 out of 21 communes meeting the new style rural standards and is in the “acceleration” phase to reach the new style rural district goal by 2025. In particular, the district has focused on removing difficulties and speeding up the progress of compensation and site clearance for the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway Project (phase 1) through Ha Giang Province. To date, 747 out of 763 households have received 492 billion VND in compensation for site clearance, creating favourable conditions for contractors to focus human and material resources on construction items of 3 construction packages, ensuring that the Tuyen Quang - Ha Giang Expressway is on schedule to reach the finish line in 2025.

On June 21, 2024, the Minister of Home Affairs issued Decision 443 classifying Bac Quang District of Ha Giang Province as a type I district-level administrative unit. This is an important basis for Bac Quang District to plan appropriate socio-economic development policies, ensuring the stability of district-level administrative units and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of state management of local authorities in the coming period.
