From May 30 to June 18, visitors to the Lung Cu National Flag Tower will be restricted to the waiting area at the foot of the site, as access to the tower itself is temporarily closed for maintenance.

The Dong Van District Relic Management Board announced the closure to ensure safety during the renovation and to uphold the technical and quality standards of the project.

Situated at an altitude of 1,470 metres above sea level, the Lung Cu National Flag Tower stands approximately 24 kilometres from Dong Van town.

Modelled after the historic Hanoi Flag Tower, it reaches a height of 34.85 metres. The national flag flying atop the tower measures 54 square meters, symbolising the unity of Viet Nam’s 54 ethnic groups living in harmony and solidarity.

The tower’s octagonal shaft is adorned with eight bronze drum motifs and eight green stone reliefs, depicting various historical periods of the country as well as the customs and traditions of the ethnic communities in Ha Giang Province.

Lung Cu National Flag Tower was recognised as a National Historical and Scenic Relic by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism on November 18, 2009.

It has become a major tourist attraction, drawing hundreds of thousands of domestic and international visitors annually.

Beyond affirming national sovereignty, the tower stands as a testament to the indomitable spirit, self-reliance, and resilience of Ha Giang’s ethnic communities. The ongoing maintenance work aims to ensure the long-term safety and preservation of the site while supporting sustainable tourism development.
