Valuable foundation for building Digital Citizens
BHG - Questions associated with everyday life, widespread social impact, valuable digital foundation, etc., are the significant achievements of the 2024 Digital Transformation Contest,themed “Building Digital Citizens of HaGiang Province.”
Implementing the Provincial Party Committee’s Resolution No.18, on digital transformation in the province for the 2021 – 2025 period, with an orientation towards 2030, the awareness and actions of agencies at various levels and sectors have seen clear changes. However, there have still been some issues that have not truly made breakthroughs, especially among the public and businesses. Therefore, the Provincial Department of Information and Communications advised the Provincial People's Committee to organise the online 2024 Digital Transformation Contest,themed “Building Digital Citizens of HaGiang Province”.

Director of the Provincial Department of Information and Communications Do Thai Hoa said the contest was organised by the Provincial People's Committee,for four weeks, from June 18 to July 14. The contents of the contest revolved around basic digital knowledge and skills for citizens and identified fraudulent behaviour in the digital space, prohibited acts and sanctions.To organise the contest, the province established the Contest’s Organising Committee and developed a question bank, relatable to the public.
With the active involvement of the entire political system, the contest attracted over 133,000 participants, with nearly 269,500 entries. Many localities attracted large numbers of contestants, and the quality of the entries gradually improved. Notably, ViXuyenDistrict secured the top spot for the first two weeks with the highest number of participants at 4,373. In the third and fourth weeks, Meo Vac District recorded the highest number of participants with 6,106 and won three prizes (second, third and consolation prizes), becoming the locality with the most awards.
Over the four weeks of the contest, two individuals won three prizes each. Luu Van Nam (Bac Quang District Post Office) won the Third Prize in the first and third weeks and the First Prize in the second week. Dang ThiHuyen (ViXuyenMedical Centre) consecutively won prizes from the second week to the final week of the contest. Nam shared: “This is a beneficial playground, helping the community raise awareness of digital transformation, bringing it closer to the people. The contest helped me gain more knowledge to ensure information safety in cyberspace and avoid being exploited by malicious actors.”
Further evaluating the contest results, Director Do Thai Hoa said the quality of entries partly reflected citizens' awareness of digital transformation in general and building digital citizens in particular. Based on this, the sector will continue to coordinate with relevant units to enhance communication efforts and provide training programmesto guide basic digital skills and improve the legal awareness of citizens when participating in digital activities.
