The provincial Traffic Police Division has taken the initiative in reforming violation-handling methods, increasingly adopting modern technological solutions, especially through the "delayed penalty" system.
Previously, traffic violations were primarily dealt with through direct patrols by traffic police officers. Today, a surveillance system of 57 cameras installed at over 30 major roads and intersections across the province enables automatic, accurate, and transparent detection and processing of traffic violations.
The system features smart functions such as licence plate recognition under various conditions, red-light violation detection, speeding alerts, and lane departure monitoring. Images are transmitted via a stable fibre-optic network to the Traffic Police Monitoring Centre, ensuring around-the-clock supervision.
This technological application has gradually changed the behaviour of road users, from avoiding police patrols to voluntarily complying with traffic laws even in the absence of officers. After just one month of operation, the system has detected and handled 2,631 violations, mostly involving passenger cars, trucks, and buses, with common infractions including running red lights, lane violations, and speeding.
Major Cam Thanh Dự of the provincial Traffic Police Division stated: “The camera system not only enhances law-abiding awareness among road users but also provides strong support in investigations, social management, and the development of smart cities. Transparency and accuracy in traffic enforcement are key to building a more professional and modern traffic police force.”
The adoption of technology in traffic monitoring and violation handling marks a significant step forward in state management of traffic order and safety. It contributes to digital transformation efforts and supports the development of a civilised, safe, and modern transport infrastructure.
