In 2024, the healthcare sector achieved significant progress in digitalisation, modernisation of medical procedures, and improvement of service quality. The implementation of chip-based citizen ID cards for medical check-ups and treatment, replacing traditional health insurance cards, has helped reduce waiting times and increase accuracy in identity verification. Across the province, 479,443 successful ID card information lookups were recorded, reaching 95.2%, a 13.5% increase compared to 2023.

In addition, cashless hospital fee payments have been widely promoted, allowing patients to make quick and secure transactions while enhancing financial transparency in hospital management. In 2024, the province recorded over 44,500 cashless hospital payments, accounting for 20% of all transactions, a 9.2% increase compared to the previous year. This system also facilitates the integration of electronic medical records and digital health insurance, laying the foundation for a comprehensive digital healthcare system. The sector has processed 647 out of 938 online payment requests through the provincial public service portal, achieving a 68.9% success rate, surpassing the targets set by the Government and Provincial People’s Committee by 45%.

Another significant advancement is the deployment of a Smart Healthcare Kiosk system at Vi Xuyen District General Hospital, enabling patients to self-register for check-ups, make cashless payments, utilise facial recognition, and manage medical records efficiently. The integration of chip-based citizen ID cards and the VNeID application into this system not only helps to optimise medical procedures but also accelerates digital payments and enhances service quality.

The achievements in digital transformation highlight the healthcare sector's efforts in optimising management, improving medical services, and enhancing convenience for citizens. These advancements lay a solid foundation for further breakthroughs in the future.
