Important steps in digital transformation in Ha Giang
BHG - Ha Giang, the northernmost region of the country, is not only famous for its majestic natural scenery but also for its remarkable steps in digital transformation. Implementing Resolution No.18-NQ/TU of the Provincial Party Committee, digital transformation has contributed to changing the socio-economic landscape and opening new development opportunities.
Regarding digital government, the province has deployed modern information systems such as smart operating systems and electronic reporting. All departments, branches, district and commune People’s Committees have connected to the Internet, used specialised data transmission networks and applied digital signatures in electronic document processing. To date, 98.5% of electronic documents have been digitally signed and sent and received via document management software, ensuring transparency and efficiency. Ha Giang is also the first province to announce the e-Government Architecture version 3.0, aiming to build a modern digital government.

In the economic sector, more than 168 enterprises and cooperatives have applied digital business models. Typical products such as OCOP goods have been put on e-commerce platforms, helping to increase their value and expand the market. As of the end of 2024, the total transaction value on the province's e-commerce platform reached nearly 2.9 billion VND.
Digital transformation in Ha Giang is people-centred. Many communication programmes, such as the 2024 Communication Festival with the theme of “Spreading the spirit of digital transformation in Ha Giang” have attracted great attention. Digital skills training courses have also been organised, helping people access and benefit from digital transformation. Currently, 80% of the population over 15 years old have electronic transaction accounts, promoting cashless transactions.
Ha Giang’s success comes from the strong direction of the provincial leaders. Legal documents, specific plans and thematic conferences have created a clear legal foundation and direction. The province also focuses on training digital skills for officials, civil servants and people; and cooperates with organisations, businesses and universities to develop technology infrastructure.
However, Ha Giang still faces challenges such as uneven technology infrastructure, limited financial resources and weak digital skills of a part of the population. To overcome this, the province needs to ensure mobile coverage and broadband network to 100% of villages and hamlets, mobilise resources from businesses and international organisations, and continue to communicate and train digital skills.
Digital transformation in Ha Giang is a testament to the efforts to overcome difficulties and creativity of a mountainous province. These achievements not only benefit the people but also affirm Ha Giang's position in the national digital transformation process. In the coming time, the province will continue to strive to achieve more successes in digital transformation.
