VNPT’s branch in Ha Giang launches 5G network

BHG - After Viettel Military Industry and Telecoms Group deployed the 5G network in Ha Giang in mid-October, the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group’s (VNPT) branch in Ha Giang also deployed 5G broadcasting infrastructure in the province.

Accordingly, VNPT Ha Giang has installed 15 BTS stations and run a trial 5G network in 10 central and three public areas in Ha Giang City, including March 26 Square, the City’s centre market area and the Provincial Party Committee.

People passing through these areas will have their phones automatically switched from 4G to 5G service. 5G network delivers a maximum speed of 1Gb, 10 times faster than 4G, while assuring low latency.

The launch of the 5G network will be an important basis for Ha Giang province to continue building a digital society and a smart era of high-speed Internet services with low latency.

5G technology was commercially deployed around the world five years ago, most commonly in China and the US, while many other countries are still in the trial phase.
