Applying technology in Women's Union activities

BHG - The Women's Union is actively implementing solutions at all levels, contributing to promoting the digital transformation process and improving operational efficiency with the aim of implementing the theme of "Enhancing the application of information technology (IT) in Women's Union activities" in 2024.

The Women's Union of Na Bua Village, Mau Due Commune, Yen Minh District, currently has 36 members.Of whom, 20 members participate regularly while the rest work far away.

Previously, each time the union held an activity, the head of the Women's Union of Na Bua Village had to spend time visiting each house to provide notice.

By exploiting the social networking platform, the union has created a Zalo group to announce union activities.

Nguyen Thi Quy, Head of the Women's Union of Na Bua Village, said that not only is it a quick and convenient way to notify members, those who are absent from the locality can also participate in the online meeting of the union via the Zalo group.

They also easily inform the directives and management documents so that women can update information anytime, anywhere. As a result, many important contents have been shared, such as: the "Building a family of 5 no, 3 clean" campaign; andprogrammes on renovating gardens, supporting women’s start-ups, eliminating bad customs, and preventing and combating domestic violence.

Applying IT in Women's Union activities is one of the breakthroughs of the Resolution of the 16th Provincial Women's Congress, term 2022-2027.

Accordingly, the Executive Committee of the Provincial Women's Union focuses on directing, implementing, investing resources in IT application, regularly training and fostering IT knowledge for cadres, members, and women. At the same time, the Provincial Women's Union implements paperless conferences throughthe scanningof QR codes to receive conference documents instead of receiving paper documents.

Chu Thi Ngoc Diep, President of the Provincial Women's Union, said that the Provincial Women's Union directed the Women's Unions of districts and cities to effectively implement pilot models on IT application, compete to implement the digital transformation programme. They effectively operated the Electronic Information Page, Fanpage system, Facebook group, and Zalo group.

The Provincial Women's Union has also coordinated to open training courses on business knowledge on digital platforms.

In particular, the union has helped its members master skills such as: Building fanpages, online advertising, and livestreaming in product promotion and business on social networking platforms.

To date, hundreds of union members have registered agricultural products and OCOP products on e-commerce trading floors, exploiting the strengths of online sales, scanning codes to trace origins.

Continuing to adapt to the 4.0 industrial revolution, in the coming time, the Women's Union at all levels will increase the application of IT in management and operation; maximise the advantages of social networks in organising activities; invest in applying new software in the union system; and focus on training and fostering the union staff.
