The capital city is now gearing up for a surge of visitors during the National Day holiday.

The total number of visitors to Ha Noi over the past eight months was estimated at 21.58 million, an increase of 13.9% compared with the same period in 2024, according to the Ha Noi Department of Tourism.

Of these visitors, the number of international tourists was estimated at 4.96 million, up 25.8% year on year.

Total tourism revenue was estimated at 85.835 trillion VND (3.25 billion USD), up 17.1% compared to the same period last year.

August saw explosive growth, with visitor numbers to the capital city reaching 3.18 million, up 27.5% from a year ago.

The month’s tourism revenue was estimated at 12.54 trillion VND (475.2 million USD), up 31.5% compared to the same month last year.

The average hotel room occupancy rate in August was 59%.

These figures clearly demonstrate the effects of activities commemorating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Since the beginning of August, the city has worked with various agencies to organise a series of cultural and artistic activities and exhibitions, and to launch new tourism products.

A highlight is the rehearsal for the military parade on September 2, attracting large numbers of both domestic and international tourists.

Typical programmes included “Ha Noi – From the Historic Autumn of 1945” at the August Revolution Square on August 15; the “Red Memories – Historic August” performance at the Tuan Chau-Ha Noi entertainment complex on August 16-17; and the “I am Vietnamese” show at My Dinh National Stadium on August 17.

There were also exhibition activities at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and the traditional and creative space exhibition at the Viet Nam National Exposition Centre in Dong Anh Commune from August 28 to September 5.

The most prominent among new tourism products was the launch of “The Ha Noi Train”, a tourist train running through numerous streets and historical sites from Ha Noi Station to Tu Son Station in Bac Ninh Province.

In addition, localities and destinations throughout the city have proactively developed many experiential products, such as heritage tourism at the Ha Mo site in O Dien Commune, and craft villages in the communes of Dai Thanh, Hong Van, and Chuyen My.

Currently, accommodation establishments, particularly 2 to 4-star ones in the city centre, are fully booked from now until the end of the National Day holiday, which promises another bumper season for Ha Noi tourism.

The city’s tourism industry has made all necessary preparations to best meet the needs of visitors during this particularly important holiday period.
