Ha Giang is increasingly gaining prominence on Vietnam's tourism map with its 5-6 day motorbike touring route that traverses pristine, fresh and majestic landscapes of the northern mountains. Top choice for international tourists

According to search data from the digital travel platform Agoda, Ha Giang has become a destination attracting many international tourists thanks to its spectacular mountain passes and magnificent natural landscapes.

In the ranking of small towns (under 100,000 residents) most visited by international tourists in 2024, Ha Giang holds the fourth position, only behind Sa Pa, Cat Ba and Con Dao.

With its beautifully winding routes and authentic experiences of Vietnamese life, this place has become a top choice for international tourists. Finding accommodation is always a primary concern for travellers on their journey to explore this beautiful route. Accordingly, Agoda revealed the top stopping points most chosen by riders.

The three destinations topping the list are Ha Giang, Dong Van, and Quan Ba. Notably, according to data from Agoda, room searches in Quan Ba increased significantly in January by 72% compared to last year.

Besides the list of increasingly popular stopping points along the Ha Giang route, data from Agoda also showed positive changes in the composition of international visitors to these locations. This year, the route received the most attention from tourists from the US, the Republic of Korea and Taiwan (China). Most notably, the number of Ha Giang searches from Korean tourists posted the strongest growth rate, up by nearly 25% compared to last year. In 2024, the Southeast Asian tourists also dominated, with the three leading countries being Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Ha Giang is often described as a gateway for motorbike journey exploration, captivating hearts with the beauty of magnificent rocky mountains and bustling, unique highland markets. This place is considered a paradise for souls passionate about magnificent natural beauty and colourful cultural experiences.

When visiting Ha Giang, tourists cannot miss the Dong Van Karst Plateau, a UNESCO-recognised global geopark, with spectacular landscapes and unique geological formations. The vibrant Sunday markets with colourful native costumes and bustling trade are excellent opportunities to immerse oneself in local life, enjoy traditional cuisine, and marvel at skilfully crafted handicrafts that strongly reflect highland identity.

Dong Van Town is an unmissable stopping point on the discovery route, famous for its antique, contemplative beauty amidst a magnificent natural setting. The Dong Van Old Quarter, with its ancient rooftops, has witnessed the historical flow of this land. Moreover, with cool weather like a miniature Da Lat, Quan Ba has become an ideal destination for hiking or discovery journeys, captivating travel enthusiasts who come to breathe the fresh, year-round cool air.

Ideal time to admire the irresistible beauty of Ha Giang

The most ideal time to admire the full allure of the Ha Giang route is from March to May. This is when Ha Giang is covered with lush green rice fields and is also the season when various flowers compete to bloom. This creates a distinctive and beautiful backdrop for the Ha Giang route.

The weather during this season is very pleasant with warm, moderate temperatures and clear blue skies, making it a wonderful stopping point to gaze upon and immerse oneself in the magnificent scenery of the rocky mountain ranges or the peaceful valleys.
