Than Nong Tower in Bac Ninh sets world record

The Vietnam Records Organisation (Vietkings) held a ceremony on October 13 to award the world record certificate the Than Nong Tower in the northern province of Bac Ninh as the largest rice grain-shaped tower in the world.

Than Nong Tower was recognised by VietKings as the largest rice grain-shaped tower in the world.

Located in Dong Do Village Cultural and Eco-Tourism Site in Lam Thao Commune, Luong Tai District, the tower is 15m tall and is designed in the shape of a giant rice grain.

There are 1,012 stone mortars arranged around the outside, while the inside is framed by concrete pillars and a staircase, with the total weight of Than Nong Tower being about 130 tonnes.

The tower was built to honour Vietnam’s wet rice agriculture as well as the country’s traditional culture.
