Lao Chai, a border commune in Tuyen Quang province, is defined by its sharply divided earthen mountains. For generations, ethnic groups such as the Dao, Mong, and Tay have reclaimed and leveled these rugged hillsides, skillfully transforming them into majestic terraced rice fields.
In early July, as the pouring-water season begins, the terraced fields come alive, glimmering like musical staves in a gentle symphony. This seasonal transformation paints a breathtakingly poetic landscape across the northernmost frontier of Tuyen Quang.
