Foreign visitors enthralled by Ha Giang’s beauty

BHG - Ha Giang Province has been famous for breathtaking natural landscapes, winding mountain roads that touch the clouds, rustic villages, and unique cuisine. Thanks to a well-planned tourism development strategy, the province has been continuously improving its tourism offerings, developing community-based tourism, promoting itself on international platforms, and participating in major tourism events.

As a result, Ha Giang has won numerous prestigious tourism awards, including "Asia’s Leading Emerging Destination" and "Asia’s Leading Cultural Destination". It has also earned the ASEAN Homestay Award, the ASEAN Green Hote Award for H’Mong Village, the ASEAN MICE Venue 2024 Award for Yen Bien Luxury Hotel, and the Asia’s Leading Romantic Resort Award for Papiu Resort. Ha Giang was also ranked among the world's 25 most attractive destinations by The New York Times and recognised as one of Vietnam's 10 most beautiful destinations by The Travel magazine. These accolades have helped Ha Giang to establish its tourism brand and attract international visitors.

Thomas, a German backpacker, spent four days exploring Ha Giang by motorbike and was deeply impressed by its majestic landscapes and the warmth of its people. Hong Hao Travel Co., Ltd., which is known for its "Ha Giang Loop" tours, has reported a significant increase in international visitors. In the first two months of 2025 alone, the number of international tourists surged by 40% compared to the same period last year.

According to a survey by the provincial tourism promotion centre, popular routes among international tourists include the UNESCO Global Geopark of Dong Van Karst Plateau, Gam River, Hoang Su Phi terraced fields, and Suoi Thau grasslands. Most visitors choose sightseeing, cultural exploration, sports, and adventure tourism, with overwhelmingly positive reviews. Many have returned to Ha Giang more than three times.

To date, Ha Giang has welcomed tourists from 187 countries, primarily from the UK, France, the US, China, the Republic of Korea, and Taiwan (China). According to Agoda data, in 2025, Ha Giang's tourism routes have attracted the most international interest, with a 25% increase in searches from the RoK’s travellers. From 2023 to 2025, online searches for "Ha Giang Loop" have quadrupled. On forums such as Reddit, travellers continuously share experiences and seek information about itineraries, destinations, and accommodations in Ha Giang.

Ha Giang welcomed over 380,000 international visitors in 2024. Since the beginning of 2025, more than 75,880 foreign tourists have visited the province. The positive feedback is a testament to Ha Giang’s strong appeal and its effective tourism development strategy, solidifying tourism as a key economic sector for the province.
