Over 187 tons of lime powder and disinfectant distributed to livestock households to combat African swine fever

According to a report by the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, and Fisheries, as of August 7, more than 187 tons of lime powder and disinfectant have been distributed to livestock households across the province to prevent and control African swine fever (ASF).

A working delegation from the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment inspected the work of AFS prevention in My Lam ward.

Outbreaks of ASF have been reported across 98 communes of the province, resulting in the infection, death, and culling of over 39,000 pigs.

Given the risk of continued spread and the complex developments of the outbreak, the Sub-Department of Animal Husbandry, Veterinary, and Fisheries has requested regional stations and veterinary staff to closely monitor and guide disinfection activities, effectively handle outbreak zones, and minimize the spread of the virus.
