BHG - From June 1, 2025, the social insurance sector will stop printing paper Health Insurance (HI) cards. Instead, HI participants, including students, will use electronic HI cards on the VssID application when going to the doctor. This move aims to modernise the system, make it more convenient, and avoid issues from the loss or damage of paper cards.

Ha Giang City Social Insurance has closely coordinated with schools, taking advantage of year-end summary sessions and parent meetings to promote and guide how to install and activate VssID accounts and integrate HI cards for students. Thereby, parents clearly understand their rights, medical examination and treatment procedures and can easily look up their children’s health information right on their phones.

Parents like Do Thu Thao (Tran Phu Primary School) were initially confused but after being supported, they were able to use it proficiently and found it very convenient as they did not have to go to their local social insurance agency. Nguyen Ngoc Thanh (Yen Bien Secondary School) also said that using the electronic card helped him be more proactive, without fear of losing or forgetting the paper card when taking his child to the doctor.

This activity has demonstrated the proactiveness of the city’s social insurance in digitising and modernising the health insurance policy, creating an important step in the digital transformation of the social insurance industry. In the coming time, social insurance will continue to accompany schools to ensure that all parents and students are proficient in using VssID, contributing to improving the effectiveness of healthcare and protecting the rights of health insurance participants.

If people encounter any difficulties, they can contact the city's social insurance agency or the support department at the school for timely guidance.
