Ha Giang eliminates over 3,000 makeshift houses, receives additional Government funding
BHG - In line with Plan No. 01-KH/BCD, issued on November 19, 2024, by the Steering Committee for the elimination of makeshift and dilapidated houses in Ha Giang Province, as of March 14, 2025, the province has initiated the construction and renovation of 3,047 houses, including 2,809 newly built and 238 repaired houses.
Notably, 1,983 houses have been completed and put into use, significantly improving living conditions for impoverished households, near-poverty families, and policy beneficiaries.

Among the houses built or under construction, 44 houses are distributed to those who were revolutionary contributors (including 22 newly built and 22 repaired), 275 houses fall under national target programmes (220 newly built and 55 repaired), and 2,728 houses are for poor and near-poverty households under the makeshift and dilapidated house elimination programme (2,567 newly built, 161 repaired).
The program has mobilised a total of 77,694 volunteer workdays, with 12,480 workdays contributed by the armed forces. Financially, the province has received 265.5 billion VND in support, including 254 billion VND from the Ministry of National Defence, 10 billion VND from Loc Phat Commercial Joint Stock Bank (LPBANK), and 1.5 billion VND from Petrolimex (Vietnam National Petroleum Group). Additionally, the Ha Giang Provincial Fatherland Front Committee has allocated over 173 billion VND from the Fund for the Poor to support the programme.
The Government has also introduced direct support policies for the elimination of makeshift and dilapidated houses. On March 10, 2025, the Prime Minister issued a decision to allocate funds from the 5% savings in regular expenditures for 2025 to support poor and near-poverty households in improving their housing conditions.
Thanks to the concerted efforts among the whole society and strong leadership from central to local levels, the programme to eliminate makeshift and dilapidated houses in Ha Giang has yielded significant results, contributing to better living standards and improved social welfare.
