Notable events included visits by Ha Giang’s delegations to various provinces and regions, such as the 2024 Spring Meeting Programme, the Joint Working Committee Conference of Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Quang Ninh, and Lang Son provinces with the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region (China); working visits to Yunnan (China) and Thailand; as well as the reception of working delegations from embassies and international organisations.
Ha Giang has also focused on cooperation in economics, trade, culture, tourism, agriculture, healthcare, and border gate development. International non-governmental organisations (NGOs) have played an essential role in providing financial support and implementing programmes and projects in the province, improving livelihoods and preserving cultural values. Currently, 29 foreign NGOs are active in Ha Giang, implementing 39 aid programmes and projects in 2024, with a total committed budget estimated at 5.1 million USD.
These programmes and projects have contributed to raising community awareness, mitigating the impacts of natural disasters, and supporting sustainable development. The province also maintained stability in import-export, trade, services, and tourism activities in border areas, with total import-export turnover reaching 308 million USD, an increase of 5.1% compared to 2023.
The year 2025 marks an important milestone for Ha Giang as the province concludes its 2021-2025 socio-economic development, foreign affairs, and international cooperation plan while preparing for Party Congresses at all levels. Amid intertwined opportunities and challenges, the province must adapt flexibly, leverage emerging cooperation trends, seek and establish connections with new partners, and maintain relations with traditional friends. The goal is to achieve sustainable development, ensure security and order in border areas, and create a stable environment to attract resources for development.
