Each house completed is a dream fulfilled
BHG - In recent days, Dong Van District has been mobilising all available resources to accelerate the construction of houses for localdisadvantaged residents to welcome the new spring. Each house represents a dream come true for poor households.
MuaThi My, a 76-year-old villager of Ma Xi Village, Ma Le Commune, is experiencing the first new home of her life. My is a social welfare beneficiary who lives alone and dreamed of having a solid house, but it was not affordable for her to build a new one.

Thanks to the initiative to eliminate temporary housing, she received support of 60 million VND along with help from the local authorities and neighbours to complete a new house. “I thank the Party, the State, and the local community for caring and helping me fulfil my dream; this is a great joy in my life,” she shared emotionally.
Similarly, Lau Thi So from Hau De Village, Dong Van Town, has also just received her new house, which was built with 60 million VND in funding and assistance from neighbours. She expressed her gratitude for the benefactors and promised to work hard to stabilise her livelihood.
According to the plan, Dong Van aims to eliminate 89 temporary and dilapidated houses in 2024, and complete the plan before the Lunar New Year. So far, more than 30 houses have been handed over, while the remaining ones are over 80% complete and expected to be finished by the end of December 2024.
Nguyen Tien Dung, Secretary of the Dong Van District Party Committee, stated that the programme not only helps residents to settle down but also reduces the poverty rate in the area. The district has directed a thorough review of eligible households while mobilising support from benefactors, businesses, and the community to achieve its goals. Hundreds of working days have been contributed to transporting materials and building houses, bringing joy during the cold winter.
These new homes not only reflect the concern of the Party and State but also the love and sharing of the community. They will soon meet thetarget with maximum effectiveness and spread profound humanitarian values providing a warmer spring for those in the mountainous areas. It is believed that with joint efforts from all levels of authorities, sectors and organisations, the programme.
