Ha Giang strives to meet targets for social insurance and health insurance participants
BHG - Since the beginning of 2024, the Social Insurance agency of Ha Giang Province has implemented various measures to raise public awareness about the benefits of social welfare policies, aiming to meet targets for social insurance and health insurance coverage. However, the mountainous terrain, challenging economic conditions, and diversity of ethnic minorities in the region present obstacles in encouraging people to participate in social insurance and health insurance. To address these issues, the provincial social insurance agency has adopted new methods, achieving notable results and accomplishing most of the assigned goals.

As of September 2024, Ha Giang Province has 878,996 participants in social insurance, health insurance, and unemployment insurance, reaching 97.73% of the target set by Vietnam Social Insurance. Among these, 44,543 people participated in mandatory social insurance, 12,124 in voluntary social insurance, and 866,872 in health insurance. Compared to the same period in 2023, total insurance contributions surpassed 174 billion VND, an increase of over 20%, achieving 78.16% of the plan set by Vietnam Social Insurance.
To meet the established targets, the social insurance agencies in districts and cities assigned specific tasks to agents to encourage voluntary social insurance participation while intensifying public outreach and tracking daily revenue progress. Leveraging internet and social media channels has also brought social insurance and health insurance policies closer to the public, especially among young people.
Additionally, the provincial social insurance agency organises direct informational sessions in local communities, with concise and easy-to-understand content, creating a communication bridge between the insurance agency and the public. Public launch events and advocacy conferences have also been held in villages, hamlets, and neighbourhood groups. In the coming period, the provincial social insurance agency will continue to make efforts, innovate, and create new approaches to achieve its goals regarding social insurance and health insurance coverage, moving towards universal health insurance, and contributing to building a sustainable social welfare system for the locality.
