Dong Van yacon

In the rocky highlands of Dong Van, low-yield maize fields have been converted to the cultivation of yacon (smallanthus sonchifolius). This crop is well-suited to the local soil conditions, easy to care for, and enjoys strong market demand.

According to traditional medicine, yacon has high nutritional value and offers several health benefits, including enhancing vitality, improving digestion, acting as a diuretic, and alleviating joint pain and inflammation.

In Dong Van, yacon is mainly grown in the communes of Ta Lung, Pho Cao, Sang Tung, and Pho Bang.

The product is purchased and distributed by the Po My Agricultural and Forestry Service Cooperative and has been certified as a 3-star OCOP product.
