Promoting sustainable agriculture through dual transformation
Despite mountainous terrain posing many challenges, Tuyen Quang has emerged as a model in applying science, digital transformation, and green transition to advance sustainable agriculture. Technological innovations are now integrated into every stage of production, reshaping farmers' mindsets and practices.

A notable example is the net-house melon farming model of Nguyen Xuan Tien in Ha Giang 2 ward. On 1,800 m² of net house equipped with drip irrigation and humidity sensors, the entire cultivation process is automated. This reduces labor by 80%, ensures product quality, and significantly increases economic value.
The Kim Binh Agroforestry Cooperative has also demonstrated the effectiveness of greenhouse farming. On 2,700 m2, the cooperative annually produces 24 tons – 25 tons of high-quality melons, earning nearly VND1 billion.

Across the province, more than 3,900 hectares of crops are cultivated under modern, smart agriculture standards, boosting product value by 30%-40% and reducing pest incidence by 35%-40%. Over 270 key agricultural products have been introduced on e-commerce platforms such as Shopee, Lazada, and Tiki, helping farmers expand markets, increase income, and stabilize livelihoods.
Organic and circular farming models are being encouraged, including the improved VAC (garden- pond - livestock) system that creates a closed ecosystem, reduces production costs, and protects soil and water resources. Meanwhile, afforestation and forest protection remain a key part of the green transition strategy. On average, Tuyen Quang plants more than 11,000 hectares of forest annually, ranking among the top in the northern mountainous region.

Thanks to bold technological adoption, Tuyen Quang now produces about 600,000 tons of food annually; over 1 million cubic meters of plantation timber; and ranks among the national leaders in raw tea production for export. Other specialty products include oranges, fish, and various OCOP-branded goods.
Pham Manh Duyet, Provincial Party Committee Member, Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment, emphasized that the sector will continue to expand scientific research, adopt advanced technologies in processing and preservation, promote organic farming, and apply traceability systems to ensure product quality.
“The goal is not only growth but also building a modern, sustainable, and environmentally friendly agriculture,” he affirmed.
