In 2024, the district was allocated over 206.57 billion VND in funding, including more than 58.73 billion VND carried over from 2023 and 147.84 billion VND allocated for 2024. To ensure effective implementation, the district strengthened its leadership, organised communication campaigns, and disseminated directives. It has also been coordinating efforts among various departments, communes, and towns to execute poverty reduction projects. Production models such as enterprises, cooperatives, household groups, and community-based organisations have been tailored to local advantages. Additionally, the district has connected impoverished labourers with job opportunities through labour export programmes and employment in industrial zones both within and outside the province.

Mua Thi Cha, a resident of Phieng Xa Hamlet, Yen Phong Commune, shared her story: her family received support in the form of a reproductive cow worth nearly 20 million VND along with technical care training. By following the guidance, the cow has given birth to a calf, offering hope for sustainable poverty alleviation.

Ma Van Toe, Vice Chairman of the Bac Me District People’s Committee, stated: “The Sustainable Poverty Reduction Programme has been concretised through plans with policies supporting infrastructure investment, production development, vocational training, and social welfare. These policies have created favourable conditions for poor and near-poor households to develop production, increase income, and minimise the risk of falling back into poverty.”

The number of poor households in the district decreased by 359 in 2024, reducing the multidimensional poverty rate from 59.14% to 56.42%. The programme’s success contributes towards meeting the district’s goals of escaping poverty, building new-style rural areas, and achieving the targets set by the district’s 10th Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term.
