Bac Quang supports people to overcome difficulties and reduce poverty

BHG - Bac Quang, a lowland district with a diverse ethnic minority population, has made progress in socio-economic development thanks to the investment attention of the Central and the province. However, due to complex terrain, low income and the risk of falling back into poverty remain major challenges for the district.

Bac Quang District has implemented a livelihood support programme under the National Target Programme to improve the lives of ethnic minorities. From 2021 to 2024, the district has implemented 28 socio-economic development projects.

Of these, 11 projects develop value chain production with the participation of 606 poor and near-poor households and 17 projects support community livelihoods with the participation of 243 households.

These projects have brought about significant results, helping many households increase their income, especially from livestock and crop farming models with incomes of hundreds of millions of VND per production cycle.

This success comes from the strong leadership of the Party Committee and the government, along with the coordination of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and socio-political organisation.

Extensive emulation movements have attracted the participation of a large number of ethnic minorities, creating new models suitable for the specific conditions of each commune and village. Along with that, the propaganda and mobilisation of people to eliminate bad customs and build a civilised lifestyle have contributed to improving community awareness.

To promote the effectiveness of the programme, leaders at all levels need to continue to raise people's awareness of support policies, reorganise production, and focus on developing production models suitable for local soil and climate.

For communes with favourable conditions, it is necessary to build large-scale commodity production projects associated with product processing and consumption and, at the same time, develop brands and geographical indications.

These solutions not only contribute to improving life but also create a foundation for sustainable development of ethnic minority areas in Bac Quang District, ensuring effective and long-term poverty reduction.
