BHG - After 4 years of implementing the resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, the agricultural sector in Ha Giang has made strong progress, with 2 out of 4 targets reaching and exceeding the plan and the remaining 2 targets reaching from 95.4% to 98.3%.

In the 2021-2025 period, Ha Giang has still identified agriculture as a key sector. Two of the three breakthroughs of the resolution of the Provincial Party Congress are related to agriculture, developing high-quality commodity agriculture according to the value chain and improving people's lives. Specific targets include: the value of crop products reaching 60 million VND/ha; the rate of rural residents using clean water reaching 96%; the proportion of the livestock industry reaching 35%; and the forest cover rate estimated at 60%.

To promote agriculture, the province has issued four thematic resolutions: Resolution No.04 on sustainable development of Sanh orange trees in the 2021 - 2025 period, with a vision to 2030; Resolution No.05 on renovating mixed gardens, developing household economy, and sustainable poverty reduction; Resolution No.16 on sustainable forestry development; and Resolution No.17 on developing high-quality agricultural commodities according to the value chain.

Despite many difficulties due to natural disasters and climate change, the agricultural and forestry sector has maintained stable growth. It is expected that by 2024, the growth rate of agricultural, forestry and fishery production value will reach 4.53%, with the total production value of the whole sector reaching 17,105 billion VND. Total food output will remain at 41.8 thousand tons, ensuring food security, while the concentrated forestation area will reach nearly 20,000 hectares. 152 products have been granted OCOP certificates.

According to the resolution's targets, the average value of cultivated products reached 63 million VND/ha, reaching 105% of the plan, and the rate of rural residents using clean water reached 96.19%, completing 100.2% of the target. The proportion of the livestock industry reached 33.5% and is expected to reach 100% by 2025. The forest coverage rate reached 59.3% and is expected to reach 60% by 2025.

Thematic resolutions have produced many positive results. 279 organisations and individuals were supported with loans to develop orange trees, 3,746 households renovated mixed gardens on an area of over 288 hectares. About 4,000 hectares of forest have been granted FSC sustainable forest certification. Key products developed include temperate fruit trees, Shan Tuyet tea, medicinal herbs, high-quality rice, yellow cows, and mint honey.

Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development Vu Van Hieu said that the agricultural sector has shifted from traditional production to commodity production, applying science and technology and forming concentrated agricultural production areas. The targets in the resolution of the Provincial Party Congress have been achieved, including 2 targets completed ahead of schedule. From now until the end of 2025, the agricultural sector will continue to strive to complete 100% of the set targets.
