Meo Vac District conducts biosafety in Lung Pu black pig farming

As of the end of July 2024, Meo Vac District has nearly 41,000 Lung Pu black pigs. This is a native pig breed originating from Lung Pu Commune, Meo Vac District, which has been domesticated and raised for a long time. Its economic value is 1.5-2 times higher than that of hybrid and foreign pig breeds because it is suitable for consumer tastes and produces fragrant, delicious, and firm meat. The total herd of Lung Pu black pigs in the district has expanded quite strongly, with an average growth rate of nearly 10% per year, pursuant to the local policy of developing commercial pig farming.

Biosafety farming is the synchronous implementation of technical and veterinary hygiene measures to destroy pathogens that may exist inside the farm, limit and prevent the spread of pathogens from outside as well as between areas in the farm, and at the same time prevent pathogens from spreading outside.
The pig farm of Tuan Dung Cooperative in Bo Song Village, Xin Cai Commune, is a typical farm ofMeo Vac District applying biosafety farming processes. Then Van Hai, a representative of the cooperative, said that the cooperative has invested in building nearly 2ha of farming area to implement biosafety pig farming. Thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions, the cooperative’s livestock farming has developed in a stable manner, with no annual epidemics. Currently, the cooperative is raising about 200 Lung Pu black pigs, including 50 breeding sows and 150 meat pigs. The output of breeding pigs for sale reaches 500 heads per year and the output of live pigs for sale is nearly 120 tonnes per year, with revenue of more than 5 billion VND per year.
