BHG - Ha Giang’s Xin Man District has collaborated with Vietnam Misaki Co. Ltd to export 18 tonnes of pickled radish to Japan as part of a cooperation programme between the two sides during the 2021-2025 period.

Under the programme, Misaki provides seeds and fertilisers for farmers, who then sell their products to the company.

In 2024, 12 households are taking part in the programme, cultivating radishes on a total area of 13.5 hectares in two seasons. The total output was over 457 tonnes, yielding 133 million VND (5,300 USD) per hectare, four times higher than corn crops.

The first shipment of pickled radish is waiting to be exported to Japan.

Three households in Suoi Thau Village, Coc Pai Town, also cultivated three hectares of ginger, with an expected output of 120 tonnes, which will then be purchased by Vietnam Misaki, earning 280 million VND (11,200 USD) per hectare.

The company also completed a processing factory that can handle 1,000 tonnes annually in Nan Ma Commune. The factory has been put into operation and produced the first container of pickled radish for export to Japan. The shipment is expected to arrive in Japan in one week.

The introduction of plants with a high economic value under the cooperation programme has helped change the production mindset, created jobs for 43 residents, and enhanced people’s incomes, thereby reducing poverty in the district.

In the following years, the cultivation areas of the plants under the cooperation between Xin Man and Vietnam Masaki will be increased to create more jobs and steady sources of income for local residents.
