The role of literature and arts in Ha Giang Province’s development
BHG - The literature and arts sector of Ha Giang was established in 1991, initially as a part separated from the former Ha Tuyen Province. In 1992, the Ha Giang Provincial Association of Literature and Arts was officially founded with just over 10 members. Today, it has grown to include 160 members active in various fields such as literature, fine arts, photography, music, theatre, and cinema. The Association publishes the Ha Giang Arts Magazine, a monthly publication with 1,000 printed copies, a dedicated website, and a fanpage, helping to promote the literature and art works to the public.

Since 1975, Ha Giang's literature and arts industry has achieved many accomplishments across all disciplines. Many high-quality works reflect the unique identity of the highlands include paintings by artist Dinh Vuong, photos by Nong Tu Tuong, music by Dao The Y, and poetry by Hung Dinh Quy. These works have helped reflect the local way of life, raise public awareness, and promote tourism, effectively showcasing Ha Giang’s image to both domestic and international friends. The advancement of digital technology has further amplified the reach of Ha Giang’s literature and arts.
To help Ha Giang's literature and arts continue to develop, the province needs to thoroughly grasp Ho Chi Minh's ideology and the Party's policies on the development of literature and arts. This includes adjusting royalties, establishing policies to commission high-quality works, and nurturing a professional and dedicated team of artists—especially focusing on young talent and ethnic minority artists. Additionally, the province should increase its support for creative camps and competitions to provide artists with opportunities to create and affirm their reputations.
Literature and arts should also be integrated with tourism, as Ha Giang's strength lies in eco-tourism and cultural tourism. Literature and arts play an important role in both preserving ethnic cultural heritage and fostering sustainable tourism development. With the achievements over the past 50 years and investment worthy of its potential, Ha Giang's literature and arts industry promises to make even greater strides in the future, contributing significantly to the province's comprehensive development.
