Tha Village is more than 5km from the centre of Ha Giang City, where 99% of the population is of the Tay ethnic group. The village still retains traditional stilt houses, with beautiful natural scenery. On August 12, 2024, Tha Village was recognised by the Provincial People’s Committee as a tourist destination. Receiving the Asean Homestay Award is an honour for the locality, and at the same time creates an opportunity to promote Ha Giang Province’s community tourism brand to the world, thus improving the effectiveness of promoting and developing the Ha Giang tourism brand as the leading regional cultural destination in Asia.

Ha Giang has previously received this noble award three times in a row, with H’Mong Village tourist destination (Quan Ba) receiving the ASEAN Green Hotel award in 2022; Nam Dam Village (Quan Ba) receiving the ASEAN award in the field of community tourism in 2023; and Yen Bien Luxury Hotel receiving the ASEAN award for the venue for Mice ASEAN 2024 - Event venue category in 2024. This shows that Ha Giang tourism is constantly improving its products, enhancing its competitiveness, and attracting tourists.

In addition to the homestay cluster in Tha Village, Phuong Do Commune, Ha Giang, Vietnam, the homestay cluster in Yen Thinh Commune, Huu Lung District, Lang Son Province; the homestay cluster in the Thai Hai ethnic ecological stilt house village, Thai Nguyen Province; the homestay cluster in Duong Lam Ancient Village, Hanoi; and the homestay cluster in Giong Trom, Binh Dai, Ben Tre Province, were also honoured at the ceremony.
