The allure of Dong Van Karst Plateau Geopark
BHG - The Dong Van Karst Plateau Geoparkis located at the northernmost point of Vietnam, with an elevation ranging from 1,000 to 1,600m above sea level. To this day, it has preserved its pristine beauty and holds significant geological, geomorphological, and ecological values, as well as a rich variety of flora and fauna. Notably, this area retains many traditional cultural values of the ethnic minority communities that coexist here.

At night, the ancient town of Dong Van emerges in a serene ambiance, with only the shimmering lights peeking through the mist and the distinctive aroma of corn wine filling the air. It feels as if the plateau’s night radiates a unique atmosphere, where stone is not just a part of the landscape but the very soul of life. Life here is intertwined with stone, from the fences and houses to festivals and customs. People are born, grow up, fall in love, and even return to their ancestors with the presence of stone around them. Stone also supports life, as corn grows from rocky crevices, and traditional markets and festivals occur throughout the year, all etched upon the magnificent stone landscape.
The road from Dong Van to MeoVac is rugged and challenging, but the breathtaking scenery from the peak of Ma Pi Leng leaves everyone in awe. The sharply divided mountain ranges and harsh nature further highlight the wild and ancient beauty of this land. The Hmong ethnic people here continue to sing traditional folk songs, passing on their love for their homeland and maintaining a strong sense of community.
The Dong Van Karst Plateau Geoparkis also famous for its heavenly gates, from the cool year-round Quan Ba gate to the treacherous Can Ty gate and the mysterious SaPhin gate. Each gate offers its own unique sensations and challenges, accompanied by the grandeur of the layered mountains. The stones stretch endlessly, creating a unique landscape that travelers cannot find anywhere else. One visitor even compared the Dong Van Karst Plateau Geoparkto Ha Long Bay, asserting that its allure is equally captivating.
