Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet inspects disaster prevention and relief in Ha Giang

BHG - On the morning of September 12, a delegation headed by Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet had a working session with Ha Giang Province to inspect its disaster prevention and relief efforts.

According to Ha Giang Chairman Nguyen Van Son, floods and landslides resulting from heavy rains in the aftermath of Typhoon Yagi caused serious losses to human lives and properties.

Specifically, rains and floods killed one, injured one and rendered one missing, while damaging 1,196 houses, over 1,626 hectares of rice and other crops, and nearly 57 hectares of aquafarming. Many cattle and poultry were killed or swept away. The losses caused by Typhoon Yagi and its subsequent rains and floods were estimated at 105.5 billion VND (4.3 million USD).

Concluding the working session, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet, Chairman of the General Department of Politics, praised Ha Giang’s proactive and bold actions to minimise the losses caused by natural disasters.

The Senior Lieutenant General asked Ha Giang to continue providing food and shelter to those in need, evacuate residents to safety in areas prone to landslides, ensure the conditions for children to go to school, and pay attention to environmental cleaning and healthcare.

Ha Giang Acting Party Secretary Nguyen Manh Dung thanked the Party Central Committee, the Secretariat and Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet personally for always supporting the province, especially in its natural disaster prevention and relief.

Prior to the working session with provincial leaders, Senior Lieutenant General Trinh Van Quyet visited Ke Nhan Village (Dong Yen Commune, Bac Quang District) and Dong Tam Village (Yen Thanh Commune, Quang Binh District) - the areas hit hardest by rains and floods.

The Senior Lieutenant General solicitously inquired about the rain and flood situation in these villages and shared the losses caused by natural disasters with them. He expressed his hope that residents will unite and overcome all difficulties to return their lives to normal as soon as possible.
